Larry Benz, DPT

CEO

Larry is an accomplished executive leader, board member, and founder of multiple companies, including Confluent Health, a premier provider of musculoskeletal health solutions through over 800 private physical therapy practices.

In August 2024, he joined the DCA Board of Directors, and in December transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman, contributing his deep expertise in healthcare management, workforce development, and organizational strategy to our organization.

Larry’s PTD Equity fund was the initial stage investment vehicle for the holdings that became Confluent Health and included investments in home health, pharma, and education along with many diversified startups. Early in his career, he founded and led the Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team (KORT), successfully growing it into a thriving outpatient physical therapy company before its sale to Select Medical.

An accomplished speaker, Larry has delivered more than 250 presentations across the country and has served on the American Physical Therapy Association’s Advisory Panel on Practice, the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research, and the Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality & Innovation.

Larry was past chairman of the University of Louisville Board, is currently a trustee at the University of Louisville, and serves on the boards of the University of Louisville Athletic Association and UL Health. He is a Catherine Worthingham Fellow and author of the 2019 bestselling book Called to Care: A Medical Provider’s Guide to Humanizing Healthcare.

His service also includes time as a distinguished U.S. Army Captain in the Army Medical Specialist Corps (1984–1989), during which he earned the Meritorious Service Medal.
